WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) 2017 Predictions (w/ Smackdown Live thoughts)

Source: WWE.com

This annual PPV usually features various matches with tables, ladders, and/or chairs and one match that features all three.  This year, we’re get only one match featuring tables, ladders, and chairs and it’s not one that I have a lot of interest in.

This upcoming show seems like a fairly predictable card with many matches I’m not excited to see.  My expectations going into Sunday’s show are really, really low and because of that, this prediction feature will be a bit shorter than my usual pieces.

Let’s also not forget that lazy assed Brock Lesnar can’t be bothered to show up and defend the Universal Championship.  WWE should be ashamed that Lesnar doesn’t care enough to be a fighting champion.

Here’s the breakdown of the current card.  Like always, if anything changes, I’ll update this feature as needed.  I also have some quick thoughts on this week’s Smackdown Live show at the end.

Kurt Angle is replacing Roman Reigns in the main event due to Reigns having a viral infection.  This is huge news because with only two and a half days notice, Angle is now stepping in for his first match in 11 FREAKIN’ YEARS!

I’d like to see how WWE explains why the general manager has decided to take it upon himself to face against the other men.  As much as I can’t wait to see this match now, I hope it ends up making sense in the grand scheme of things.

I hope WWE knows what they’re doing.  Angle has been protected and now he’s heading into a match with tables, ladders, and chairs.  I’m sure he won’t take any huge spots for his first match back but I’m sure making sure he’s safe will be on WWE’s mind.  I

While Angle’s team will give the crowd a feel-good moment, now that Reigns isn’t a part of this, we may see Angle, Rollins, and Ambrose lose here.  Samoa Joe could make his comeback to help the other team and Angle not wrestling in years could also give the team an out for losing.  Angle is also NOT “Super Reigns”.  I’m giving the win now to the the team The Miz put together.

As well, Bray Wyatt is supposedly out for the same issue. Now we’re getting AJ Styles to face off against Balor.  I’m pumped to see this match but am I kinda disappointed that there isn’t enough build-up or a story here to make it REALLY matter? I’m not sure.  I guess I can just look forward to what it will be: an awesome match between to of the best today.  It WON’T surprise me if we see someone or something interfering to make this a no-contest, though.

Here’s my original predictions as posted on Wednesday morning…

Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox (Kickoff Match)

Source: WWE.com

Sasha Banks has beat Alicia Fox on many occasions.  Hell, who hasn’t beat Fox on many occasions? Now for those who want to sit through all this again, this match is for you!  Mind you, this is booked for the Kick Off show and Fox is going all crazy again, so that probably means Fox is in line for her usual “two weeks then forgotten” push she gets every few years.

Winner: Alicia Fox

Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher & The Brian Kendrick

Source: WWE.com

You’d think this match would be a part of the Kick Off show.  I had high hopes for the Cruiserweight division and 205 Live.  I’ve now stopped watching/PVRing 205 Live and just don’t care anymore.  Why is Gallagher a heel exactly? Does it matter?

Winners: Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher

Asuka vs. Emma

Source: WWE.com

The question with this match isn’t who will win but how much offense WWE Creative will let Emma get on Asuka in her debut main roster match.  Let’s hope Vince and Dunn don’t ruin her like they’ve ruined so many other hotly anticipated NXT call-ups.  How’s the Kick Off show, Banks? How’s being off the PPV, Bayley?

Winner: Asuka

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto vs. Enzo Amore

Source: WWE.com

WWE is took one of their merch cash cows and turned him heel to try and save 205 Live.  WWE seem to be building Enzo and his new crew as a group to watch out for. No one will even remotely buy into it, though, if Enzo isn’t the champ.  The belt is going back to the mouthpiece.  I want Neville back!

Winner: Enzo Amore

The Demon vs. Sister Abigail

Source: WWE.com

Holy shit.  Can this please end? Now we’re getting “Sister Abigail” facing “The Demon?”  The only thing that can make me really take any interest in this if someone else appears as Sister Abigail to face Bálor instead of Wyatt.

This “even too stupid for wrestling” story line backs WWE into a corner again. If Demon Balor loses, what’s the point of Bálor calling on The Demon for his big matches if it loses? If Wyatt loses, like he usually does, it continues the trend of people not giving too shits because no matter what Wyatt does and says, he can’t win a feud. Seeing what WWE has done with most NXT talent, I’m giving this match to Wyatt because something this bat-shit crazy isn’t going to be straightforward and it should give Bálor an out for losing.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James

Source: WWE.com

This may be the match I’m looking forward to the most because I like how Bliss has improved over the past year and I think Mickie James will have a good match with her.  Supposedly Nia Jax has asked for some time away, so Bliss won’t have her to fall back on.  Will another woman take Jax’s place by Bliss’ side to aid her or will WWE give the title to James for subjecting her to yet another insulting story line?  Nah…Bliss will keep it because WWE thinks James is an old woman.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro & Sheamus
(Tables, Ladders & Chairs 5-on-3 Handicap Match)

Source: WWE.com

I don’t care about The Shield reuniting.  It’s all a ploy to get Roman Reigns over with more fans.  Reigns is still delivering asshole-type promos, so how is that helping?  Maybe when the group disbands, it’ll be Reigns taking out or berating Rollins and Ambrose.

We’ve already seen Rollins and Ambrose beat Sheamus and Cesaro. We’ve seen The Shield take out Brawn Strowman.  Kane hasn’t been relevant for years and constantly lost before he left WWE for a while.  The Miz has always been written as a coward and a weak link, albeit a good talker.  Why should we have faith in the heel team to win this?

In his last PPV one on one match, Reigns kicked out of everything and anything given to him by Cena so how are we to believe that he wont’ kick out of a chair, table, or ladder spot (or an onslaught of them)? He will.

With all that said, there’s no way a reunited Shield will lose this match.  I mean, it IS possible if Reigns doesn’t take the pin and they will be protected due to the handicap in the match and all the weapons, but I just don’t see it.  I will enjoy the carnage, though.  I think the Shield winning this will lead to Reigns winning the Intercontinental Championship from The Miz within the next two weeks so they can sell even more shirts.

Winners: The Shield  (On the safe side, if Samoa Joe reappears, the 6 on 3 advantage will definitely help the heels win).

Smackdown Live Quick Thoughts

So Jinder Mahal is challenging Brock Lesnar to a match at Survivor Series? To what end? To bury one of their champions or to set up Lesnar’s next feud with whoever interferes?  It’ll be interesting to see how this one builds.  One promo from Mahal in and the crowd was chanting “you cant wrestle at him” so it’s going to be a long way to Survivor Series.  Let’s hope WWE saves what seems to be the inevitable Styles/Mahal title match for after Survivor Series.

So Baron Corbin pins AJ Styles clean to keep the US Championship and then loses to Sin Cara a week later? C’mon….

The Fashion Files still sucks.

We got another multi-woman match with no purpose on the show. What a waste.  It also showed, once again, how bad Lana is in the ring.

I’m really liking the Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens partnership.  Zayn’s promo on Daniel Bryan was great but I’m still digging him for speaking what really seems like the truth, so that makes me get behind Zayn! WWE Creative really needs to change his music and get rid of his happy dance to the ring, though.

Props to Zayn for getting a pin over Randy Orton! That’s a huge thing! I’m sure we’ll see another one on one match between them down the road and Zayn will definitely need the win there, too.

I’m excited for next week’s show to see the return of Shane McMahon to see what obstacle or punishment he’ll give to Zayn and/or Owens.
