WWE Money in the Bank 2016 Predictions

Source: wwe.com

It’s time for another WWE Pay Per View (or monthly special on the WWE Network) and I’m back for another round of predictions. I’m actually looking forward to this PPV as I think the matches are quite interesting and I think it’ll be an enjoyable show. I’ll run down the card and give my thoughts on who I think will win. (Quick Note: I’m still pissed there’s no IC title match on this card).

The Golden Truth vs. Tyler Breeze & Fandango (Pre-Show Match)

Source: wwe.com

Sweet f’n asscrackers….why? Why? WHY?!?! WWE Creative screwed up badly not pulling the trigger on The Golden Truth way back when people were a bit interested. Now I just don’t want to see them. This match means nothing. This feud means nothing. These teams won’t be in a tag title picture ever, so I ask again: why? At least Fandango and Tyler Breeze (I REFUSE to call them Breezango) get to perform. Poor guys. Winner: The Golden Truth

The Lucha Dragons vs. The Dudley Boyz (Pre-Show Match)

Source: wwe.com

Here’s another meaningless tag team match. At least people can watch some action while they get to their seats. There’s no story here except it’s more new school vs. old school. There’s no Dudleyville anymore. They live in Jobberville (or as they like to call it “Enhancethetalentbylosingville.” It’ll be a short match. Winners: The Lucha Dragons

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

Source: wwe.com

We’ve already seen some matches between these two and there hasn’t been too much development between these two at all since their last match. This “feud” should have already been taken care of on Raw. With Corbin, WWE should have focused more on his persona to get the crowd really for him or against him. The crowd is used to Ziggler losing and Corbin needs a win to make the crowd feel something for him. Winner: Baron Corbin to finally end this poorly written “feud.”

Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus

Here’s another match where the fans don’t really have to much to go with.  Why WWE Creative couldn’t build anything better between these two on four Raw programs leading up to this is stupid. The fans don’t really know anything about Crews, so I say that Sheamus still needs to bounce back from the League of Nations garbage to still be seen as credible.  Winner: Sheamus (with a rematch the next night on Raw after a post match beat down by Sheamus).

US Championship – Rusev (Champ) vs. Titus O’Neil

Source: wwe.com

I like seeing Rusev show us his monster side again. It’s also great to see Titus in a title picture. I think the match will have some back and forth action, but I don’t see this going any longer than 8-9 minutes with Rusev coming out on top with maybe some help from Lana. We’ll also see a Raw rematch before the next challenger comes along. Winner: Rusev

Dana Brooke & Charlotte vs. Natalya & Becky Lynch

Source: wwe.com

The Women’s division is so horrible right now. So much promise going into WrestleMania and the night after in “new era” and we get fed the same old bullshit. I go into it more in my last article on Raw. There are many ladies on the roster and they’re still having Charlotte and Natalya against each other in another form. Does it really matter who wins this? This will be another 8 minute match where Charlotte will get pissed at Dana at the end, just like on Raw. Winners: Natayla & Becky Lynch

WWE Tag Championship Match: Enzo & Cass vs. The Club vs. The Vaudevillains vs. The New Day (Champions)

Source: wwe.com

I don’t think WWE needed to make this tag match this convoluted. I think Enzo & Cass should have finalized their feud with The Vaudevillains first while The Club went right for The New Day. I think there will be some good spots here from everyone but in the end, The Club are going to kick ass and take names. Winners: The Club

John Cena vs. AJ Styles

Source: wwe.com

This is the match I’m looking forward to the most. The promo exchanges between the two have been enough to have me hooked and want to see Cena get his ass beat even more than usual. I really don’t see The Club coming out to help Styles, as that would make Styles come off like a coward after the contract signing and really doesn’t make him back up all the words he spoke during the promo exchanges. Yeah, Cena doesn’t lay down for too many people and if he does here, you know he’ll get his wins back. There’s just no way WWE can have Styles lose this match, unless it’s by a DQ with someone different interfering – maybe like Finn Balor, setting up a new faction to start taking over WWE. Winner: AJ Styles

Money in the Bank Ladder Match – Sami Zayn vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose

Source: wwe.com

The participants in this match will give it their all and I think this may be one of the best Money in the Bank matches ever. I think the fresh blood/faces working side by side with some veterans of WWE will be able to deliver a captivating and satisfying match (unless Jericho or Del Rio win, no offense to them). There are so many reasons the majority of the people in the match should win, but let’s look at who makes the most sense: Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens.

As foreshadowed on Raw during the Ambrose Asylum, the former brothers in the Shield all can lay claim why they should be the world champion. Dean hasn’t held it yet, but he’s the craziest out of the three.

There are so many stories that could be told with Ambrose winning (or even losing) this match. Could he cash it in and win that night leading to the inevitable three way dance/triple threat? Could the feud between Rollins and Reigns continue with Ambrose lurking and stalking everything they do, putting them both on the defensive? Could Ambrose lose and then side with someone during the WWE Championship match with a promise of a future title shot.

With Kevin Owens, people love to love him and love to hate him. He’s made himself such a legit star in such a short period of time. I don’t think I haven’t liked anything Kevin Owens has done since he’s gotten to WWE and he’s worked well in the ring and outside the ring with everyone. I think one thing Vince and his “Creative” team know is that Owens has a big future in the company and a title run, albeit short at first, would cement that. With that being said I’ll be cheering and wanting Owens to win this, although it makes a bit more sense story-wise for Ambrose to win. I’ll play my cards carefully as I say…

(Who I want as the) Winner: Kevin Owens
(Who will probably be the) Winner: Dean Ambrose

WWE Championship Match – Roman Reigns (Champ) vs. Seth Rollins

Source: wwe.com

If anything, this match will prove how good AJ Styles. Why? Because Styles carried Reigns to two of his best matches, even with the shitty booking/endings and ridiculous kicking out of finishers at the end of them. Rollins, in his first match back after being injured and off for over nine months, will need to prove that he can also help Reigns get through and perform a great match so many eyes in the back will be on him and the expectations for Rollins to deliver will be high. We all remember Reigns vs. HHH at ‘Mania, right?

I find it so funny that although Rollins came out at the last PPV to a huge ovation, taking out Reins and got a huge pop the night after on Raw but WWE got him to turn on the crowd. Yeah, Rollins is a good heel but fans know he’s better and want to cheer him. You’re going to hear the audience cheer and support Rollins through this match, which Uncle Vince won’t like. WWE could have been so smart and did a double turn, which would have led to a better story leading up to this match. All we got were video packages, two promos against each other, and one fucking boring “psych out” segment.

I don’t see Reigns losing, but I also don’t see Rollins losing either. I think there will be a double DQ or count-out here and that will piss many off. They won’t take the belt of Reigns but they won’t let Rollins be pinned either.

The other options to have the match not have a victor are:

  • The Wyatt Family returns and lays everyone out (which may make no sense as these two will not team to fight them)
  • Randy Orton comes out and makes the statement that he’s back by laying them both out
  • We get a Money in the Bank cash in which doesn’t hurt either men. That would lead to a rematch where Rollins would get involved and cost Reigns the rematch so their feud could continue and the new champ can go to Summerslam with a new opponent.
  • Ambrose wins and we see the triple threat match I mentioned above to headline Summerslam.

There are lots of good options, but like I said, I just don’t see one of these guys getting pinned legitimately.

Winner: One of them by DQ/Countout or a Money in the Bank cash-in.
