Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics Mega Bloks
I’m a mark for the old late 80s/early 90s classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and the toys from Playmates. Today? Not so much. I thought the redesigns after that series ended weren’t appealing and even today’s cartoon is too anime for me. The Turtles’ designs from the new movie (and the upcoming one) also appall me. So it’s always refreshing to see new products with the old style cartoon look!Don’t get me wrong. I also LOVE the old, darker Turtles look and story from the original black and white comic book. NECA did a great job of those, and in a later article, I’ll show off my 4 figures that I have in my collection paying homage to them.
The point of this post is to showcase the Mega Bloks collections that have been released in the classics style so far. I saw at Toyfare in July that they’re doing a Technodrome playset, too! I’ll be opening these following goodies in the future, but to wet your appetites of what’s to come, here is the loot I scored!
LEONARDO
Leonardo, the leader of the Teenage Mutant Turtles, comes with his katana sword and display base!
Donatello
Donatello, the tech genius of the Turtles, comes with his Bo staff and display base!
Raphael
Raphael, the darker and more cynical of the Turtles, comes with his Sia weapons and a display base!
Michelangelo
Michelangelo, the goofball and most humourous of the Turtles, comes with his nun-chucks and a display base!
Bebop and Foot Soldiers
This set comes with the bumbling Bebop, one of Shredder’s henchmen. He comes packing heat with a large gun. The set also includes three Foot Soldies with various weapons (a Bo, nunchucks, and two shuriken) and a display base for all of the figures.
Rocksteady and Foot Soldiers
This set comes with the ruthless Rocksteady, the other one of Shredder’s henchmen. He also comes with a large gun. The set also includes three Foot Soldies with various weapons (a knife, extra sai, and two shuriken) and a display base for all of the figures.
Krang’s Rampage Set
This set has quite a bit of stuff! First off, it comes with Krang, the brain-like creature from Dimension-X and his robotic mechanical body. The set also includes an additional Leonardo and Raphael (as of now, they look like the same Turtles and weapons from the stand-alone packs), a Channel News at 6 billboard (featuring a Mega Blok/classics style April O’ Neil), and pizza street cart. Lots of action here!
So there’s my little photo preview of what’s to come. I’ll probably do a feature just on the Turtle packs, then one on the villain packs, and one on the Krang set just to space them out. Hope you enjoyed!
